Hier werden die Radiowellen von Galaxien, schwarzen Löchern oder Sternen empfangen und analysiert.
27 Antennen (à 230 Tonnen) werden auf insgesamt 130km y-mässig angeordneten Schienen 3 mal pro Jahr auf 72 verschiedenen Stellen neu positioniert. Je weiter auseinander die Antennen sind, umso grösser die Auflösung. Die äusserste Position der Antennen entspricht einem Teleskop mit 35km Durchmesser!
Ici sont captées et interprétées les ondes radios en provenance de galaxies, trous noirs ou étoiles.
27 Antennes de 230 tonnes chacune sont déplacées sur 72 positions différentes 3 fois par année le long d'un réseau ferroviaire en forme de Y de 130 km. Plus les antennes sont éloignées plus grande est la résolution de l'image obtenue. Dans leur position la plus éloignée les antennes correspondent a un télescope géant de 35km de diamètre!

27 antenna (each of them weighs more than 350 tons) are relocated 3 times a year on 72 different positions on 82 miles Y-shaped railroad tracks. At the widest antenna position is the highest level of detail. At that position the antenna have the qualities of a giant telescope 32 miles across!
